How long does acupuncture take to work?

This depends on a variety of factors including nature of the condition, age of the patient, and length of time the problem has existed.

How much does it cost?

Our fees are designed to accommodate patients with or without insurance, so call our office for pricing. Some insurance companies do provide benefits for acupuncture. If you would like us to check acupuncture benefits for you, our office would be lad to call your insurance company.

I am anxious to start, how soon can I schedule an appointment?

How does it work?

The body contains a network of energy pathways called meridians. These pathways circulate energy and interconnect throughout the body. How long does treatment take?

Each session typically lasts 20-30 minutes.

How many treatments will it take?

Some conditions respond quickly and some take longer. We usually start with a short treatment program to evaluate patient response.

Where do you put the needles?

The needle placement can vary depending on the condition being treated. Some of the more common acupuncture points treated are on the arms and legs.

Do the needles hurt?

Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and most patients feel no discomfort. Patients usually discover the experience is very relaxing. If you havea fear of needles, discuss it with Dr. Van Wyk or Dr. Peters.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture treatment is safe and effective. For patient safety, only disposable sterile needles are used. Treatments are monitored closely by the doctor. No drugs are administered during the treatment sessions so o avoid the risks of drug side-effects or dependency.
